Welcome to the new Granville Girl Scout website! We hope you like the new face, but rest assured, the primary focus of this site is still to inform girls and leaders of the activities of their fellow scouts. Granville leaders: If you were unable to send your troop's information but would still like your page personalized or would like your page changed, please feel free to email the webmistress at ggsjet@hotmail.com.

Camping Recipes

Spring is just beginning to warm up and chances are you're just beginning to uncurl your hibernating inner camp chef. Just to get into the swing of things for the camping season, why don't you practice with a few indoor adventures! Haul out your sleeping bags and gather together your friends. You can tell stories, play games, sing songs, and enjoy some camping delicacies such as these, just make sure that you get an adult to help you.

Sloppy Joes

Ingredients: 1 pound of ground beef or chicken
1 can of tomato or chicken soup, or half of each
                   Ketchup
                   Prepared mustard
                   Hamburger buns/French bread

Brown the meat in a skillet and drain the fat using a strainer. Once you are finished draining, return the meat to the skillet and add the soup, ketchup, and the mustard. Heat thoroughly until cooked. Serve on hamburger buns or French bread.

Banana Boats

Ingredients: Banana
                  2 squares of chocolate
                  Marshmallows

Make small slits in banana, peel this small piece back. Make a groove in the banana where the peeling is pulled back. Place 2 squares of chocolate and a few pieces of marshmallow in the groove. Fold back the peeling. Wrap the banana in the tin foil. Place in coals (or oven) for about 10 minutes.

S'mores

Ingredients: Graham crackers
                   Large marshmallows
                   Milk chocolate bars

Break off two graham cracker squares and a square of chocolate of the same size. Place the chocolate square over one of the graham crackers. Heat 1 large marshmallow over flame or in the microwave, making sure the marshmallow doesn't char or melt. Carefully place the marshmallow on top of the chocolate (those using a microwave may want to use a fork to retrieve the marshmallow) and place the other graham cracker on top. Squash slightly and enjoy!
